Why is healthy eating important?
Healthy eating is at the heart of any healthy lifestyle. Many people are now beginning to realise
that our nutrition has a massive impact on our overall health. We are also beginning to appreciate that
healthy eating is for life, not just for the few weeks after Christmas. In fact, we should view good
nutrition and eating healthy foods to be the norm, rather than the exception. In our work we advocate
the 80:20 approach to life and healthy eating. If we do what is good for us 80% of the time, we can relax
for the other 20%. By following an eating plan that actively builds health during our 80%, we can cope
with the 20% relatively easily.

What is a healthy eating plan?
|
|
We recommend that any healthy eating plan follows 5 basic principles.
|
|
1. Eat High Quality Nutrients
Your body needs high quality foods. Many foods these days are not high quality. Nutritionists refer to these
foods as 'non-foods'. A non-food does not give your body vital nutrients and actually takes a great deal of your
body’s resources to breakdown and neutralise. You body needs a regular supply of high quality proteins, fibre,
natural fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, carbohydrates and of course water.

2. Eat Natural Foods
Many foods in our supermarkets today are highly processed and therefore contain too few nutrients and too many
artificial additives and toxins. There are a great range of 'superfoods' such as
supergreens,
superberry and
cocochia, in our online shop.

3. Know What Your Body Needs
Everyone is individual. Some people need a high carbohydrate, low fat diet to be healthy. However, many don’t!
A low fat diet may only suit about 20% of people. Many more people need a diet that is higher in protein and fat.
What does your body need? Do you need high carbohydrate or high protein? Do you need a low G.I. diet or not?

4. Eat 3 Nutritious Meals Every Day
Many people skip meals, especially breakfast, or end up snacking through the day. Most people do best on 3 high
quality meals with great nutrients every day. If you find it difficult to eat breakfast because you’re short of
time or you have no appetite, try a meal replacement shake such as superberry. Shakes are also great if you find
it hard to get good quality foods when you’re on the road or at work. For more information, visit our
online shop.

5. Drink Pure Water!
Our body needs clean, pure water. Drinking coffee, tea, fizzy drinks or juice does not count. It's true that we
need at least 2 litres of water everyday to maintain good health. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, lack of
concentration, joint pain, constipation, arthritis and even blood pressure issues.
